We have an association with Wentworth in Surrey that allows our members access to one of the best golf facilities in the UK, if not the world.

Wentworth is an amazing golf estate that has hosted many of the top international tournaments. The World Match Play was held here for many years. The West course annually hosts the BMW PGA Championship. The inaugural Curtis Cup was played on the East, which was also the setting for a match that evolved into the Ryder Cup.

The Edinburgh is the newest addition to Wentworth’s portfolio, designed by John Jacobs in consultation with Gary Player and Bernard Gallacher. Winners on the course include some of golf’s greatest ever players such as Gary Player, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Seve Ballesteros, Greg Norman, Nick Faldo, Ernie Els and Tiger Woods.

I played the Edinburgh, which is such a good test of golf. There is no use being a big hitter on this course; you’ll run out of fairway on lots of holes. Shaping shots and putting yourself in the right spot is the answer on the Edinburgh.

The West is a true testament to golf. As you play each hole, it feels as if you’ve just put the next piece of the puzzle together. If you don’t get it far enough down the fairways, you’ll struggle with approaches. The par threes are manageable but with tricky greens. The 13th is a great hole with no view of the green from the tee, but my favourite is the 17th. I love long par fives and this one begs you to have a go. The problem is, it’s monstrously long and coming up short leaves a tricky chip. It’s a genuine championship course that one should play as often as possible.

The new Taylormade Institute, also at Wentworth, is the only one of its kind in the UK. This is a premier club fitting facility and we’d love to get you out there to have a custom club fitting session and a round of golf.

There’s also the Tennis & Health Club, an option for non-golfers or for golfers who like to take a break from the green once in a while. There are 13 outdoor courts of four different surfaces, indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools, a fully equipped gym, a fitness and dance studio, a spa offering a wide range of beauty and sports treatments, a crèche, and a café and terrace for outdoor dining.

Wentworth is much more than just a golf course or two. You feel the history of the place, and yet it’s modern. Call us for 50 per cent off visitors’ fees.
